WRAP MAP (Mapping Aquatic Priorities)- Chena
Tanana Valley Watershed Association has begun a new watershed plan for the Chena watershed (including Piledriver Slough), and we need your input. As most of you know, the Chena watershed is vitally important to the Yukon Chinook populations. The final product will be a map of the Chena watershed, that will use historic loss, current condition and future threats to prioritize aquatic habitats for restoration and preservation. It will be a tool for permitting and land management agencies to help focus efforts to maintain and improve these habitats on a watershed basis, using salmon as a key indicator species of the health of the habitat.
For those of you who were involved in the Watershed Resource Action Plan we coordinated in 2014 and 2015, this effort will be similar, but less intensive, and focused on the aquatic resources (the streams and wetlands) of the Chena watershed. Meetings are held every other month. Please contact us if you'd like to be involved!
